Tarantino is, without a doubt, a contemporary myth-maker, and like many others, I adore the dance performed by Uma Thurman and John Travolta in Pulp Fiction. But the magic of cinema lies also in its relationship with time: you can’t transfer a dance onto paper by simply copying a frame.
Once, while rewatching the film, I began sketching the movements of Uma Thurman’s hands, and she transformed almost into Shiva: all attention shifted to her, to the gleam of her hairstyle, the elegance of her ankles, and, of course, to her hands. I am deeply fond of this image
