This work is inspired by the graphic language of Matisse and Van Gogh, while also drawing on themes traditional for Flemish painting.
In The Cherry Plum Peelers, we see a father, his son, and the son’s friend preparing cherry plums together. But what interests me is a different layer — the experience of shared work and the quiet passing down of skills, stories, and traditions from elders to the younger ones, almost like in childhood before gadgets existed.
In the background, a fragment of landscape appears — a reminder that nature and time are deeper and more enduring than any everyday storyline
