Silence of the Almond Tree, 2025
Oil on canvas
84 × 64 cm || 33 5/64 × 25 13/64 in
Artwork description

Against an almost black background, a solitary female figure is depicted wearing a long white garment. Her face shows her eyes lowered or closed. A thick tree trunk rises from beneath her feet and visually continues upward through her body, creating the impression that the woman and the tree are connected. The branches extend from the upper part of her figure and fill the entire top section of the painting. The branches are covered with many small leaves. In the upper left corner, a thin yellow crescent moon is visible. Three small light-yellow birds are perched on the tree’s branches
Text from the artist

What does the almond tree keep silent about?
About the sorrow of the maiden who entrusted it with her secret grief.
The almond tree stretched toward the moonlight, as if trying to shelter her with the gentle glow of the night.
Each fruit on the tree carried a story from her life.
The pain the tree absorbed from her, it transformed into new blossoms, again and again.
And with time, that pain became an almond fruit – soft within, yet hard on the outside
